Bio
Karmela Carbajal is a Dallas native and double major in Modern Dance (BFA) and Biology (BS) at the University of Oklahoma. A graduate of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, she has trained with Groundworks Dance Company, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, and Chamberlain School of Ballet, and attended prestigious intensives including the American Dance Festival, Perry-Mansfield Pro Dance Intensive, and Dallas Black Dance Theatre.
Karmela has performed works by renowned choreographers such as Ulysses Dove, David Dorfman, Andy Noble, FLOCKWORKS, among others. Her performance experience includes Footprints AT ADF, Contemporary Dance Oklahoma, Dance Africa with Dallas Black Dance Theatre, National High School Dance Festival, and Pilobolus at the Nasher Sculpture Museum. Passionate about both the artistry and athleticism of dance, Karmela continues to expand her craft while pursuing opportunities to perform, collaborate, and inspire through movement.
